There must be a convention in town. On our pre-dawn walk this morning, Asha and I saw seventeen snowmen! That’s a lot of snowmen. We had a big snow on Saturday night. On Sunday morning I took Asha to a big park nearby and she got to run around in the deep, fluffy snow. She kept looking for things to chase; but, it seems that all the wild critters were snug in their holes, dens or whatever else they call home. Asha would stick her nose under a bush and come back up with her face covered in snow. Too bad I didn’t take my camera with me as it would have been nice to get some pictures of Asha frolicking. I took a hard fall onto my knee and nearly took several more (wild flailing that must have been amusing to any onlookers). One of the things about getting older is that falls and knocks are harder to take than when one is young. I know that this is only going to get worse as time goes on.
I watched a movie, “The Libertine,” which I found rather interesting. It had some very good performances by the cast, the music was excellent and I liked the cinematography (although it has been panned by some critics). It was definitely not a “feel good” movie, in fact, it was quite depressing really; but, I don’t mind that in a film at all.

I fell on my knees last spring – it hurt sooo bad. I am sorry you had the fall.
I enjoyed Libertine. I like Johnny Depp! It was sad.

Yes, I thought Johnny Depp was quite good in this role. I enjoyed the play of expressions across his face during certain scenes and I am tempted to buy the DVD just for the prologue and epilogue. Although I tend to draw back from admiration of celebrities who are deemed to be “hot items,” I can’t seem to help enjoying Depp’s performances. I like it when performers are unwilling to serve purely as eye candy.

I was interested in the Libertine until I read poor reviews, but now that it’s on DVD maybe I will check it out. I trust your movie reviews, too, certainly more than those two guys with the thumbs.
Be careful in the slippery stuff.

*laugh* Well, I am glad I have some value! If you do end up watching “The Libertine,” I’d be very interested in reading your thoughts on it.

Thanks, yes I am okay. Just feeling old and sore.
Although I enjoy many films, movies and flicks (and I draw distinctions between these designations), I’d have to say that I am particularly drawn to darker depictions of life. I am most moved by films that are able to portray something that speaks to that part of me that I find myself unable to express well but feel deeply. I like it when a film stays with me for days and makes me want to replay it. It may not always be comfortable; but, I think that art that engages the viewer is wonderful. Film has a marvelous capacity to engage the viewer.
I am struggling with whether to cancel my satellite service. I really need to reduce my expenses and my satellite service is both expensive and patently unnecessary; but, it is important to me in that it provides me with much visual and mental stimulation and so I continue to waiver in my decision. As soon as I am convinced it is time to cancel, some film like “The Libertine” comes on and my resolution falters.

17 snowmen. hahaha. Those people blow into town make an army of snowmen and then split.
Did you mean the Libertine cinematography was panned? I thought it was nicely done; sort of sepia in tone. Very unusual. That’s the one with Johnny Depp right?
I’ll send you an email of a funny snowman cartoon.
