I hope to improve my level of technical skill in using ink pens by doing these practice pieces. These are definitely not where I would like them to be.
What kind of pens & technique you use in these works? Especially the coloured dots etc. on darker colour areas. I really like the technique and would like to try it myself some day.. maybe it’s something very simple but you just make it look so inspiring and exquisite!
Veterok, I think what you are referring to are the opaque gel ink pens that I use over my darker colors. These are very cool pens and are the Uni-ball Signo Angelic UM-120AC Gel Pens. Here is a link:
I also use the Pilot Hi-Tec gel ink pens for other colors. You can get them in really fine points and that is what I am trying to learn how to use effectively, but I am struggling with it.
I really like the look of well done ink work and I am doing a lot of work using ink pens, but achieving that well-controlled line work still seems to allude me.
Thanks! I figured they’re probably some sort of gel pens but wasn’t sure – all gel pens I use are pretty bad and useless, I should buy better ones..
I like all Pilot pens too, they’re really nice. I used to have those ballpoint ones for writing and sketching.
Thanks Sterling, I appreciate the kind words! I guess it still looks a little too messy and haphazard to me. Maybe it is a good thing though, because it gives me a reason to keep trying. 😉
